the religious aspects


Majority of the population of this locality follow Buddhism. Buddhist people of this locality are skilled in reciting Namasangati, Chahrya dance and singing in Altar and recitation of the Stotra of Deities. Many people renounced from this locality and spend monastic life. Among them some of Mahasthabirs are: Manjusasana. Sudarssan, Ashoghosa, Jyanmpunnika and many other Sravanera (Monks) and Anagarikas (nuns).

There are 34 monasteries of three sections i.e. Sravakayana. Mahayana and Vajrayana in the locality. Among them, Padmavarna Mahayani Vihara and Sumangala Vihara and Sakyasimha vihara belongs to Sravaka yana. Thus the people of this locality believe in all three schools of Buddhism.

The cultural aspects

damokhin


One of the most important festivals of historical Patan city is the Mataya festival. It is annually observed and organized by ten separate locality of the city respectively. On the occasion of Mataya festival various kinds of traditional musical instruments like Dhaa, Khin, Damokhin, Mridanga, Konchakhin, Dholaka etc are played in Patan Durbar square. Among the ten organizing places of the festival Okubahal is one who organizes the festival each ten year interval. The locality is also popular for modern Gyanmala Bhajan.
